Novel 2 Axis Tracking PV system
Patent # - US9431561B1
Method and system for providing a wind load resistant, tracking photovoltaic (PV) array
This patented idea arose when I tried installing solar panels and could not shake the feeling there was a better way.
The value proposition - Efficient, Scalable DIY Solar Installation
This product promises to mitigate barriers to entry on a rooftop solar installations
- Cost - Paying a contractor to install panels is a large portion of the cost, because a contractor is going to do it, the project needs to happen all at once requiring sophisticated financial planning
- This system allows the DIY customer to install units piecewise removing contractor costs and upfront investments
- Structural Requirements - Some roofs cannot accept solar panels due to wind loading and require expensive engineering and construction services not available to low income energy users
- This system is non wind loading and therefore does not require nearly as much structural integrity for installation broadening the range of viable rooftops.
- Cleaning - Flat panels require occasional cleaning
- This system has built in cleaning functions due to its rotary activity
- CHP Capability - Moving heat off of panels for efficiency and heating applications requires significant cost add
- This product lends itself to moving heat from the panel to applications because of its tube structure.
